Well I officially begin as a MSP tomorrow, but I already have a few ideas to run past the ones above me. For instance...
Windows 7 Launch Party: Depending on the feasibility of this idea, I would like to throw a Windows 7 upgrade madness festival of sorts. It would be a an event where any student can bring their laptops and we would upgrade their computer to Windows 7 for Free. . We would publicize it all over campus with chalkings, etc. CIT would do the troubleshooting for any problems during installation.
I could have a ton of tables with ethernet cords in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight or in Helen Newman Gym. Upgrades would be possible either through the network or by DVD. In the rest of the room, I would have posters outlining the advantages of Windows 7, tables with free swag, and information about student opportunities like the Ultimate Steal and Dreamspark.
My idea is that I can partner with maybe CIT, The Cornell Store, and perhaps ISSA or another student organization. CIT may be interested if they could be persuaded that Windows 7 would create less headaches in the long run over Vista. The Cornell Store could sell other applications or at least advertise. Having another organization would be nice to do the actual install or help out. (the greeks, perhaps?...)
Who else can I partner with?
How many people would attend an event like this, if I could get the funding and personnel?
